Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions
What all does the custom weapon and equipment menu provide?
Anything you need to fight the zombie hordes. The weapon and equipment menu always pops up for all CT players at the beginning of any round. It can also be accessed via chat by saying the word menu in either regular or team chat. Various specific portions/sections of the menu are chat sensitive so that players can access them by specific word triggers used in chat. Here is a list of the current word triggers and what portion of the menu they will display.
I’m a CT player, how do I heal other players on my team?
As a CT player you can heal any other member of your team by stabbing at them with your knife, although you need to be close enough to actually make contact with the knife. If you experience problems trying to heal your team mates it may be because you are standing too far or too close to them, or that you aren’t actually looking directly at them. When you do this right you will receive a message indicating that you successfully healed them for a specified number of points and you will also receive a cash reward for helping assist them. When you heal a team mate they will also receive a message indicating who healed them and for how many points of health. You may successfully continue to heal a team mate until they reach their maximum health at which point you will receive a message stating that their health is full. Remember, depending on your rank you may heal for more points of health than the average ( which is the rank of Private – 4 to 6 points). Also depending on the rank of the person you’re attempting to heal, they may have a maximum health higher than the average ( which is also the rank of Private – 130 points)
I got hurt and then I noticed that I started losing 1 point of health per second, what is that?
When any players health is at 30 points or lower they will begin to bleed. When players bleed they will continuously lose health at 1 point a second until they only have 1 point of health left. When a player only has 1 point of health left the heartbeat sound that they emit will stop.
I was playing on CT and lasted til the end of the round but died when time ran out, why?
Other zombie servers reward players on CT for staying alive until the end of the round. This is not the case with Zombie Apocalyptica. As a CT player it is your obligation to kill all the zombies in order to eradicate the infection. If the CT team does not manage to kill all zombies by the time that the round clock reaches 0 then all remaining CT players will die and the team will lose. While you may decide to barricade yourself or camp in a hard to reach spot, it will not do you any good unless you wipe out the zombie plague.
How do I build a barricade?
CT players can build barricades with furniture, soda machines and any other props they see sitting around on maps. You can move props by shooting them. As a zombie you can move props out of your way by holding the use key ( E by default ) and moving in the direction you wish to move it toward. While building barricades for protection is not against the rules, in most cases it is counterproductive because as a CT player you’re obligated to kill every zombie in order to win the round.
How do I set zombies on fire?
If you’re playing as CT you can use he grenades and flashbangs ( flame bangers ) to set zombies on fire and make them much easier to spot in dark areas. If you use a he grenade any zombies caught in it’s blast radius will catch fire. If you use a flame banger then any zombie that is touched by the light of the flash will be set on fire. It’s a good idea to be careful when using flame bangers because you may unintentionally blind yourself or members of your own team, compromising their safety or your own.The three primary uses for setting zombies on fire is that it effectively makes zombies that are hard to see clearly visible, zombies that are on fire suffer significant speed and vision impairment, and it gives you an audible method of telling that zombies are n the vicinity even if you cannot see them from your current position. It is beneficial for any CT to practice using flame bangers and he grenades as a method of sweeping and checking dark areas, corridors and hallways.
How do I switch teams?
By default pressing M will bring up a menu to select which team you’d like to join.
I turned into a zombie at the beginning of the round and I wasn’t killed by any zombies, why?
If you were turned into a zombie at the beginning of a round it’s because you were randomly infected. Random infection only occurs if there are more over a certain number of CT players when a round starts. During random infection a single CT player is randomly chosen to be infected. It should be noted that the Senior Ranking Officer aka Squad Leader has immunity to random infection, as well as the player that was previously randomly infected. When a CT player is randomly infected an announcement is made to the team that they have a suspicious looking wound. At that moment the player in question will begin to show symptoms of turning into a zombie such as violent and uncontrollable shaking followed immediately by screaming or crying. The player will do this for a short period before they die and turn into a zombie.Sometimes an announcement of suspicious wounds and even the symptoms a person begins to experience will turn out to be a false alarm in which case that person will not turn into a zombie by random infection and there will be an announcement that the player seems to be fine.
What role does rank play on the server?
Rank plays a significant role on Zombie Apocalyptica in various aspects involving gameplay. Rank directly affects your maximum health, how much you heal you team mates for and how many zombies you will fight. Players with higher ranks spawn with above average max health ( average max is 130 as a Private ) and heal for a higher number of health points ( average is somewhere between 4 and 6 points as a Private ). When you progress in rank, difficulty will be adjusted accordingly by facing more zombies.Rank determines who is the SRO ( Senior Ranking Officer ) and squad leader at the beginning of rounds. The player with the highest rank at the beginning of a round will be chosen as SRO and be given immunity to any random infection that round ( this does not mean that the SRO will not become a zombie if killed by a zombie, it just means the SRO will never be chosen for random infection at the beginning of a round ).
I saw someone with <whatever higher rank than Private>, how do I get promoted?
In order to progress in Rank as a CT player you must kill zombies and heal your team mates. Over time as you fight the zombie infected and assist members of your team by healing them you will be promoted. You can check your current rank as well as your current number of kills as a CT and your heal assists by saying statsme, rank or my stats in chat.
